Who needs pleasure?
Transiting Venus is conjunct transiting Saturn, within a tight orb of 2°, from March 20 to March 23, 2024.
Venus governs love, beauty, pleasure, gracefulness, luxury items and art, the bounty of nature, and our ability to afford to indulge in such things (money).
Saturn, on the other hand, imposes strict rules and conditions which we often experience as restrictions, limitations, obstacles and resistance. He is the Lord of Karma and time. Under his very pragmatic gaze, rewards are hard won and don’t come quickly or easily, shortcuts are not an option, and lots of hard work is required.
Clearly these two energies are in conflict in many ways and Saturn, being more powerful, will dominate this union. If Venus were a garden, Saturn is a drought.
This is not a time for indulgences, spending sprees or excessively hedonistic pursuits (which you may not be able to afford right now anyway). We may view romantic pursuits or entanglements with an unusual degree of pragmatism, if not skepticism or pessimism.
This is probably not a great time to schedule a first date, for example. You may be assessed in a very calculated and sober manner. Relationships or endeavors started now may not be particularly romantic, fun, or even fruitful. Pleasure will take a back seat to responsibility, duty, obligations, work (and then more work) and long-term goals.
Saturn can also represent an older masculine figure or authority figure, in case that is alluring or presents around now, although they will likely turn out to be stingy, controlling, patriarchal, sparingly emotive, dull and carnally uninspired (to put it politely).
Although Venus can be quite happy in ethereal Pisces, where it can channel creativity, inspired beauty and whimsical otherworldly dreams, conjoined Saturn here will slam the brakes on that for a few days.
Beneficial applications of this aspect include filing your taxes or performing an assessment of your financial obligations, doing bookkeeping, accounting and the like. Or perhaps you will finally realize that a love interest is not, in fact, what you hoped it might be, and you will cut your losses. It may also be a good time to get rid of possessions that serve no practical purpose or that aren’t essential.
Please note that this is a minor and brief aspect. Look to the house in your natal chart where this occurs and consider the aspects it makes to key planets and points in your chart.
